Theatre and Dinner on Us!

Willimantic, CT – Windham Hospital is hosting a blood drive on September 24, 2010 from 11:45 am to 5:45 pm in the Hospital’s Education Center at 112 Mansfield Avenue in Willimantic. 
All presenting donors will be eligible for a chance to win tickets to the Long Wharf Theatre and the Shubert Theater in New Haven as well as gift certificates for Scoozi Tratoria and Wine bar in New Haven. 

Brain Injury Conference, Sat., Sept. 25

The Brain Injury Association of Massachusetts (BIA-MA) will hold its 3rd Annual Caregiver Conference on Saturday, September 25, at The Century House, in Acushnet, MA. The event provides an opportunity for family members and caregivers to hear about best practices in the field of brain injury, to learn about resources, and to meet others who share their experiences. Interested professionals are also welcome to attend. 

“The Caregiver Conference aims to provide family members of brain injury survivors with the resources they need to be the most effective advocates and caregivers possible,” says Sandy Topalian, PhD, CBIS, who manages the BIA-MA’s Southeastern Regional Office. “The workshops and panels will provide caregivers with information on how to not only take care of their loved ones, but themselves as well.” 

Speakers at the conference include: Janet Cromer, RN, formerly of Spaulding and founding member of BABIS, BIA-MA’s largest support group; Elizabeth Lauzon, CTRS, Braintree Rehabilitation Hospital; David Bullis, Clinical Psychologist; Tom Hall, MA, CBIST, Regional Director of Brain Injury  Services, Neurorehabilitation Centers at Worcester and Middleboro; and Jenny Stickney, RN, MA, LMHC, CCM, Case Manager, brain injury, Regional Hospitals of Cape Cod and the Islands.

* Behavior Management
* Couples Coping with Brain Injury
