Nat’l Assoc for Home Care & Hospice Reaches Out to New Audiences As Health Care Legislation Begins to Take Effect

PHOENIX, AZ. – As provisions of the administration’s new health care legislation begin to take effect, insurance and service providers are looking for new ways to reach out to the large amount of Americans entering the market. For the National Association for Home Care & Hospice (NAHC), an advocacy group that represents some 25,000 home care and hospice organizations, that means ensuring Americans are aware of the organization, the providers it represents and the changes and opportunities under the health care bill.

To do that, NAHC is engaging in new awareness partnerships, the first of which is the title sponsor for the 2010 Champions Tour golf tournament at Pebble Beach over Labor Day weekend (Sep. 3-5). The tournament will be known as the Home Care & Hospice First Tee Open at Pebble Beach and the multi-year partnership will create awareness across a new demographic for NAHC. The First Tee is a World Golf Foundation initiative dedicated to providing young people of all backgrounds an opportunity to develop, through golf and character education, life-enhancing values. The First Tee has nine core values that include: honesty, integrity, sportsmanship, respect, confidence, responsibility, perseverance, courtesy and judgment.

“When the idea was presented to us, it simply made sense,” said Val J. Halamandaris, President of NAHC. “We’ve been seeking opportunities to create awareness of the home care and hospice industries and golf has a loyal audience of viewers that spans all generations. It’s a sport people will play throughout their lives. Not only that, but the First Tee has Nine Core Values that resonate with the mission of home care and hospice providers around the nation.”    Provisions under the new health care reform legislation will allow more people to access home care and hospice needs, but many are unaware they may be eligible because of the complexities of the law.

“We want people to know that there are home care and hospice options out there,” said Halamandaris. “We believe our continued sponsorship of events like the Home Care & Hospice First Tee Open at Pebble Beach will provide a perfect outreach to a broad demographic. We want to reach those younger generations as well that may be inspired to join the richly rewarding fields of home care and hospice. Now is a great time to be a part of helping others.”
