Sakdhisapol Katanyutanon, MD

Waterville , ME  - Sakdhisapol Katanyutanon, MD, a gastroenterologist, has joined MaineGeneral Gastroenterology in Waterville and MaineGeneral Medical Center’s active medical staff.

He provides diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy and specializes in diagnosing and treating digestive and liver diseases. His areas of clinical interest include diseases of the liver, pancreas, bile ducts and gallbladder.

Katanyutanon earned his medical degree from Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, Thailand. He completed an internal medicine residency at St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center, a program affiliated with the University of Massachusetts  in Worcester, MA, and a gastroenterology fellowship at North Shore University/NYU School of Medicine in Manhasset, NY.

He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.


MD has joined MaineGeneral Orthopedics

David Urquia, MD

David Urquia, MD, an orthopedic surgeon with specialty fellowship training in spine surgery, has joined MaineGeneral Orthopedics and is a member of the medical center’s active medical staff.

Urquia earned his medical degree from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville and completed residency training in orthopedics from Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC.

He specializes in spine surgery and plans to develop a full-service spine program in addition to non-spine general orthopedics. He joins MaineGeneral Orthopedics and will practice out of both the Augusta and FirstPark offices.

He is certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery.

For the past 21 years, Urquia has practiced at West End Orthopaedic Clinic in Mechanicsville, VA. With 32 orthopedic surgeons offering a variety of services, it is the largest private orthopedic group in Virginia. He also maintains a clinical faculty appointment in orthopedics at Virginia Commonwealth University.

Urquia and his family have spent many summers vacationing in coastal Maine. His wife, Dorothy, is originally from Maine and her family has long maintained a summer home in Camden.  They are looking forward to permanently relocating to this area.


Trauma and general surgeon, has been appointed to Medical Staff

Benoit Blondeau, M.D.,

Lewiston , ME. – Benoit Blondeau, M.D., a trauma and general surgeon, has been appointed to the Central Maine Medical Center Medical Staff. He is practicing in association with Central Maine Surgical Associates in Lewiston.

Prior to joining the Lewiston-Auburn area medical community, Blondeau practiced at University of Mississippi Health Care in Jackson, Miss. He also served as an assistant professor of surgery and medicine at the University of Mississippi Medical School in Jackson, Miss.

His professional experience includes membership on the surgery staff at Truman Medical Center, Kansas City, Mo. He also served as an assistant professor of surgery at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School  Medicine, Kansas City, Mo., and at the University of Health Sciences Antigua, Antigua, West Indies.

Blondeau earned his doctorate in medicine at Tours University Hospital in Tours, France. He completed residency training in general medicine and served a vascular medicine fellowship at Tours University Hospital.

For a number of years her practiced general and vascular medicine at Tours University Hospital and in private practice in Amboise, France, before entering a general surgery residency program, first at Howard University Hospital in Washington, D.C., and then at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine. He completed a two-year fellowship in hepato-biliary surgery and multi-organ transplantation at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City.

He is certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a member of several professional organizations, including the Central Surgical Association, American Society of Transplant Surgeons, The Transplantation Society, American Medical Association, American Venous Forum, European Neuroendocrine Tumor Society, and International Liver Transplantation Society. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Blondeau has worked as a medical educator throughout his career. He is also the author or co-author of many scholarly articles, including presentations concerning his own research.  He lives in Auburn.
