Cancer Support Groups
The Cancer Support Group will meet on Tuesday, July 13 from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Mansfield Senior Center. Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at the same time and location. Family and friends are welcome.
Windham Hospital’s Breast Cancer Support Group will meet on Monday, July 19 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the 3rd Floor West Classroom. Newly diagnosed patients as well as long term survivors are encouraged to attend, as well as their family and caregivers. Meetings are held on the third Monday of each month at the same time and location.
Diabetes Education Class Series
Windham Hospital offers a four class series every month to review diabetes, its long term complications and dietary considerations. Participants must attend all four classes and pre-register at 456-6727. Physician referral and initial visit to the Hospital is required. Classes are held in the 3rd Floor West Classroom. Most insurances will cover the cost of the classes. The upcoming class series are: July 20, 22, 27, 29 from 9 – 11 am or 4 – 6 pm
Diabetes Updates
Windham Hospital will hold its monthly diabetes support group on Wednesday, July 7, at 1 PM and at 7 PM, in the 3rd Floor West Classroom. The group meets the first Wednesday of each month. Any person with diabetes is invited to attend.
Prepared Childbirth Education Classes:
Windham Hospital offers an all-day “marathon” Childbirth education class on Saturday, July 24, 2010 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, in the Hospital’s Education Center. Cost of class is $65 for families delivering their babies at WH and $75 for families delivering elsewhere. Participants can also register for a Baby Basics class (fee: $10 if combined with Prepared Childbirth class). Lactation/Breastfeeding Class or consultation: Windham Hospital offers a Breastfeeding class on July 18, 2010 at 4:00 pm. Cost of class is $10. Mommy & Me Luncheons (in English)
Windham Hospital offers a Mommy and Me Luncheon, a social support network for mothers and their infants (age up to 9 months). The group meets twice a month, the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m, in the Hospital’s Mansfield OB/GYN Office located on 3rd floor, by the Hospital’s Main Entrance. Next meeting dates are July 7 and July 21st. Women living in the Windham Hospital service area and their children up to age 9 months are welcome to attend. There is a $5 fee which will be waived for anyone with state insurance or receiving assistance from WIC.
